Background
Steven L. Lee is a computer scientist/mathematician and a research staff member at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. He earned an SB in applied mathematics from Yale University and a PhD in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1993).
Interests
Lee’s research interests are applied mathematics, scientific computing, algorithms, numerical analysis, simulations, mathematical modeling, physics, and optimization. During his visit, Lee was the main lecturer for 18.06 (Introduction to Linear Algebra) in the Department of Mathematics, where he created a website for the course (while noting the continuing value of blackboard-and-chalk lectures).
